100 Things We Want to Do in 2019 — Fun Templates to Share

In one of our recent Twitter chats about Holiday Traditions, we’ve mentioned our New Year’s tradition of making a list of 100 things to do for the next year to the #traveltribe, and received multiple questions on how it works. Here is our answer, and the templates for you to use!

A few years ago, on a New Year Day, we created our first list of “100 Things We Want to Do this Year” and really enjoyed it. So now, on December 31st of every year we review our accomplishments of the past year, and on January 1st create a new goal list for the year ahead.

It’s fun to sit down and see what items we’ve checked-off during the year’s bucket list, and the ones we didn’t. It’s also fun to see what items transferred from one year’s list to another without being completed. And some may be eliminated completely, because they are not relevant any more. Change is the most permanent thing, after all.

But how can you come up with 100 things to DO in One year? Sounds daunting! Easy peasy. And once you start, you will probably come up with a few more than a 100!

Here are a few tips from us to you!

TIP #1 – You don’t have to put them in any priority order (unless you are slightly OCD like us, then keep the first 3-5-7 lines for the utmost important goals/wishes for the year, e.g. “Take a sabbatical!”).

TIP #2 – Just start writing things, there are certain things that have been fluttering in your mind, including New Year resolutions. Just write them down!

TIP#3 – How about approaching the list holistically? In simple terms – draw a circle – divide it into four parts, put your core life values into each segment (e.g. Health, Love, Wealth, Joy) and write down at least 5 items related to each value on your “100 Things I want to Do in 2019” list.

TIP#4 – Ask yourself questions. Simple. What makes me happy? What brings me joy? What accomplishments will make me proud? Will it make me smile?

TIP#5 – Put the S.M.A.R.T. pants on – use Specific. Measurable. Achievable. Realistic. Time-bound goals. (e.g. Visit at least 3 new countries by December 1, 2019 not exceeding the budget of X amount)

TIP#6 – Are there certain things you’ve been avoiding doing? – Time to write them down and be accountable for them. Organize the closet, donate unwanted items, fix that wobbly chair, these are all good examples.

TIP#7 – Are there any hobbies/projects that have been abandoned for a while? Can you find some time this year to enjoy them? Write them down.

TIP#8 – If everything else fails – cheat. Here are some of the simpler/easier items we’ve put on the list over the years. Feel free to use these as your own, and check-off at the end of the year. 😊

Examples:

“Make each other smile every day.”

“Do something nice for a stranger.”

“Try a new international cuisine locally or experiment at home.”

“Be more forgiving of others.”

“Accomplish at least 50% of the list.” (personal favorite)

TIP#9 — Just remember, it isn’t rocket science, and nothing is written in stone. Make it into a game, be creative, and most of all, have fun with it! 😊😊😊

So, in the holiday spirit, we are gifting two downloadable templates to you – one can be used for individual goals, one for the family goals. Enjoy!

How does that sound? Doable? Questionable? Fun? Comment below. We’d love your feedback.

Sincerely, MonkeysVentures

TIP #10 — POST THIS LIST WHERE YOU CAN SEE IT EVERYDAY!!! If you don’t it’s not gonna get done! Trust us on this one! 😊
